The New Jersey Storytelling Network [NJSN] was founded in February 2002 as a New Jersey non-profit organization and gained 501c3 status in October 2007. The purpose of the network is to encourage and promote storytelling in New Jersey.

- To collect and preserve the oral tradition.
- To make storytelling events and storytellers readily available to the public.
- To encourage storytelling as educational enrichment at all levels of learning.
- To encourage and aid storytellers in the pursuit of their art.
- To foster storytelling with the potential to inspire, to enlighten & to entertain.
